Japanese Status of Residence System (visa)

Home > Q&A > Q&A Vol.11

To obtain a business manager visa, a contribution of 5 mn yen or more is required in principle. How should I transfer this money to Japan?

It is common to use bank transfer from abroad. In rare cases, some people bring cash into Japan. To bring at least 1 million yen worth of cash into Japan, however, you are obliged to make a customs declaration for the prevention of money laundering. Keep all related documents as you may be required to submit a copy of the customs declaration in evidence to the immigration services agency when you apply for a business manager visa.

In some countries, it may not be possible to transfer a large amount of money to Japan. In such a case, we have to deal with the problem one by one. Feel free to contact us as we may be able to propose possible solutions from recent similar cases.
